Default Ultra Vented Fairings for RoadGlide

I am trying to install the Ultra vented lowers on my 07RG. I read in an older post someone notched the rubber cap to make them fit. IF you see this what did you notch it with and do have any pics. Anyone else put the vented lowers on their FLTR?

I think that was on roadglide.org, I know I saw it somewhere.

You can also make them fit by installing the 2010 fairing brackets.

As the other poster said, you can get the new fairing brackets and mount them as-is. Check at your Parts counter.

I would do as posted above and obtain the 2010 bracket and side supports as opposed to notching anything.

+2 on this. The mount r/r is very simple. There is alot of info here with helpful details on the process. Just did mine recently.

Prior to the 2010 model year brackets becoming available and HD shortening the fairing cap stub that covers a portion of the engine guard, it made some sense to notch the glove box to fit vented lowers on an RG. With the new brackets (about $100 list price), it makes little sense to notch anything. Heck, with the included glove boxes on the vented lowers versus the cost of buying them for the unvented lowers, the $100 makes good sense for a clean, worry-free installation.

Just my $.02.

Good luck with your project.

Carl

PS: You may decide you'd like to add the 2011 CVO SG speaker boxes with 6.5" speakers in those vented lowers in the future and you won't want to be notching those as well.

Default lowers

Will the 10 brackets fit on my 07. Spoke to one Harley dealer and they said no. Do you have to remove the inner fairing as well as the outer fairing to replace the brackets?
