How did you learn to ride?

I went sand camping (Dumont) with a friend a few times and rode his automatic Yamaha 660 Grizzly. Then I got a Yamaha 660 Raptor and he showed me how to work the clutch. I liked it so much I got an 883 Sporty for the pavement. Now I'm on the Road Glide and working with the Ride Like a Pro DVD, just wish I had someone to practice RLAP with.

Probably like others in my age group, I learned by getting on a motorcycle and riding. In retrospect, there was a good bit of luck involved. I could be wrong (it has happened before) but I don't think there were any MC courses available.
Fast forward a few decades - took an MSF course, take an occasional class. Read Proficient Motorcycling and Total Control. Have viewed the Ride Like a Pro video.
Would like to take a motor officer course.

My first bike was a crotch rocket. I had the dealer deliver it to my house cuz I didn't know how to ride, I just always wanted to. I stood in the ally way behind my house with the owner's manual trying to figure out which one was the clutch and what not. After a week riding about 10mph in the ally I moved it to the streets. Less than a year later I wrecked it in Seattle. but I'm proud to say that the day my casts were cut off I bought a nightster as my first Harley.

Got one of these from my grandmother when I was real young and my
brothers and I just jumped on it and started riding it.
Think I was about 6-7 years old. Been riding since.

Couldn't post a picture so had to post a link.
Guess I need to learn that.
