One ratchet strap, over both sides of the frame diagonally, under the motor. Ain't go'n nowhere.

+1 Sure...the $400 jacks are great, but my cheap-a$$ Sears red works just fine. It's not like they don't have to be tested and actually work as advertised...they jack up stuff...period. Damn jack thread...haha.

Yup. push the pedal, bike goes up..lock the lever, bike stays up.

Yep, works for me. I have a yellow Harbor Freight jack ($80) that has a lever that locks the jack in place and allows me to ratchet tight the the straps without applying direct pressure on the hydraulic bottle lift. This also ensures the jack will not lose pressure and lower the bike by accident. It is unnerving the first few times, but as long as you take your time and ensure the jack is centered properly you should have no issues. BTW, I have lifted to the maximum height with this jack, while strapped of course, and had no issues in rolling my bike around the garage- even over the floor cracks. I am sure the $400 jacks are nice but since I didn't have it in my budget I had to settle for the jack made in China. It works perfectly for my purposes, cleaning and minor mods.

Hi all,
I bought a handy scissor jack rated 900 lbs similar to this one (450 Kg* means 900 lbs):

I lift the bike to relax the suspensions and tires during winter storage.
The lifting action is slow, the footprint of the jack is wide enough (14") to keep the bike stable when the front wheel comes off the ground and when the front fork turns by itself.
I paid less than 100 USD for mine

just to be honest I never had a problem with my red sears jack just to tippy and did not trust it and thought it would be cheaper to buy a better jack than to repair my bike { or listen to the wife }

Only thing to never forget, is do not take a wheel off while on jack without supporting other end of bike.
