Smile First ride of the New Year

I don't think it's broken out of the mid 30s for several days. Still some visible ice on the roads, not to mention plenty of black ice. Not the best road conditions, but with the cold air, the bikes run like they're supercharged.

I didn't get much more than about 30 miles in today, just got out to get out for a bit. The trickiest thing was just getting out of my driveway, but a little rock salt and cat litter made the drive a little less treacherous.

Anyone else get out for the first ride of the New Year today?

Little rock salt? Hope you are planning on cleaning all those nooks and crannies...don't want to hear complaints about rusting in two years

Did my 10th Annual New Years Eve run last night, gets you the last ride of the year and by coming in after midnight you also get the first ride of the year. We finally got above freezing and a good rain took care of most of the snow, and while I do rinse my bikes off with a garden sprayer they do have rust on them- damn salt. But hell I bought them to ride! Best wishes for the new year.

I probably spent longer cleaning the bike than the ride was. I've never had a problem with rust, never will.

Rode about 85 miles today. Here in central Louisiana, high 60's for New Year's Day, makes for a great, comfortable ride.

Mid 50's in Connecticut is unheard of so had to go for a ride and loved every mile of it. The 1st ride on 1/1/11. That's a lot of ones.

I rode today. It was about 33 with a wind. Froze my butt off. This time it was cold. Thought I dressed warm. At least I got the bike out for a bit.
