They are pretty tough to beat.All I ever do to mine is keep them clean and touch them up when needed,which is not very often.

do not ever wash or clean them in any way...that way you will not know if they have anything wrong with them.

I sent a note to S100 asking if their engine brightener would work. They told me they hadn't tested it on black pipes, but that it should work. They also warned me to try it in an inconspicuous spot first. I haven't tried it yet.
