Mine makes me an "honorary member". I was cleaning my bike and moved it around a little bit to do something. When I leaned it back over on the stand, it wasn't locked and it rolled right over onto the guards. If you pick it up like the video posted earlier shows, it's really not too bad and puts no load on your back. You lift it with your legs and your butt aganist the seat. It's pretty easy, but not something I want any more practice with!
For the first time in 13 bikes over the years I backed the bike out of the garage, was thinking about something else, got off bike and low and behold, didn't put down the jiffy stand, I learned 2 things, you can pick up a street glide (not easy) and saddle bag guards saved me from raising hell with the saddle bags.
When it starts to go.....might as well get out of way of the lower side. I know a guy that broke his leg trying to keep it up while it dropped on him. I once was waiting on others at gas station on the side of the lot, and almost pulled out with the kickstand still down. Thankfully, a buddy saw it and reminded me before taking off. Can't imagine what that would have felt like when it stuck.
