Default S&S 106 54H Build Question 07 Touring

I am currently putting parts together for my build:

S&S 106 big bore kit
Andrews 54h cams
Stock heads ported to match cams
SE Adjustable push rods
Jaggs vertical 10 row oil cooler
SE cam plate

Question is on what else do I need.

Lifters, rocker arm supports, and bottom end?

You dont really need the cam plate.
How many miles are on the lifters?
Bottom end is nice but usually not necessary on mild builds.
Aftermarket rocker arm supports are for large cam higher rpm situations so not needed with your build.

If you ever think you want more power go ahead and get the heads ported and build it once.

Find someone with a proven combination to prevent mix match of parts is one of the best advice I was given when I got the motor mod fever!

Oh Boy, don't post this over near the "Crank" thread or you will think you need to get a Caterpillar tractor crank put in there!! LOL

Thanks Dude,

Currently I have about 26K miles on the bike. I figured while I was in that area might upgrade some of the components.

I don't do wheelies and burnouts but I do ride it like it's the last day I am going to have it.

The crank is what has me worried. Any ideas on how much it would cost to get it trued/welded?

Thank you sir. Got those already. So many things to get, I'm putting this thing together bolt by bolt.

Current theory is that the crank is generally good for 120 ft/lbs. I wouldn't worry about it on this build, although you could certainly see torque well into the teens.

New lifters for sure.

I've never had one welded but once the crank is out of the cases its anywhere from a few hundred to as much as you want to spend, new rods crank halves etc.

I'm not a pro engine builder but have hot rodded every toy I have ever owned and do 90% of the work. My 120 only had the lefty bearing and I reamed the you know what out of that thing and never had a problem. My 103 crank that the 120 replaced was out of spec though. So like Guntoter said the crank in the newer engines is something that can be debated forever.

Leave the crank alone.
If/when it scissors, build the motor to a 120".
