Default Full or Empty Tank During Storage?

Now that the freeze-a$$ weather is finally upon us, the bike of course sits for up to 2 months (maybe more depending on my travel schedule). I rode today, but the snow is coming.

Back when I needed to store a bike for up to 6 months...I would always drain the gas...but these were old scoots sitting over extended periods, carburetors, etc. Never really knew why, but the old timers told me that was the way.

So - Is it best to have very little fuel in the tank or full when storing? Does it really matter with today's fuel and tank construction?

+1 on the "full" - plus add some fuel stabilizer (Sta-Bil works well). If you add the stabilizer during your last ride it will find it's way through the entire system and prevent varnishing from the stagnant fuel.

Run it a little to get the stabilized into the throttle body/carb, and connect the battery tender.

Ride to the gas station, fill the tank & add StaBil...ride it home & you're good. Oh, you should do this BEFORE winter sets in...

As others have said...full to the brim, throw in some Stabil or Seafoam (that's what I use) and run it enough to get it through the system. Then put her to sleep for a few months
