I replaced mine with a powerlet outlet. Looks better and I can use their 90 deg plug so it clears the tank.

Been running my heated gloves power out of the cig lighter. I hope Harley doesn't find out, I might get a severe finger waving.,,,

I have used mine for years with cell phone and gps. Like others have said, check for interference with tank on tight turns.

I have my GPS AND Cig lighter on the same circuit and have yet to pop a fuse.
I also don't have any problem with the power cord hitting the tank...
Oh, thats because I ride an ugly bike! Road Glide +1 Boooyah!

We pump up our our camper's queen size air mattress with a Coleman pump plugged into the lighter socket. No problems.

I've used mine with a GPS since I got the bike - and no problem. Had to buy a different plug so it wouldn't hit the tank. Shorter plug clears just fine, and I have had zero problems.

Use mine to power the GPS, no problem. It takes a lot more current to fire up the lighter than it does to run a gps or phone, don't know why they would have a statement like that in the manual, guess I'll have to read mine
