2011 Street Glide Throttle Issues
#11
Same thing just happened with my SG today, had it for 6 weeks and I have 1900 miles w/out a problem until now, Very disappointing to say the least. Starts and idles fine but when you turn it all then way it revs very slightly to about 1800 rpm and the engine light comes on, Let it cool down and still the same thing...Had to have it towed to the dealer and deal with it tomorrow and see what they have to say. What a way to ruin a nice Sunday LOL.

I had the same issue yesterday on my 2009 S.G. I have to take this a step further. A Little over a year ago, I had 14,678 Miles On The Bike And Was Leaving A Week End Get Together. Bike Fired Up Fine, Rolled To The Gate Hit The Throttle And Nothing! The Bike Started Throwing Codes "6 To Be Exact" Long Story Short, Harley Had The Bike For 2 Weeks, Turned Out It Was One Of at least 600 Where a wire had shorted out and took out the entire emition system, Thus a $3899.00 Repair Cost Had It Not Been For The 15,000 Mile Warranty On The Engine. Yesterdays issue Blew Me Away , As I Only have 4k more miles on the bike and that stall out issue happened. And Like Every One else, I let the bike cool down and it runs fine.

This issues comes up often. It is call Limp Mode and it is a throttle-by-wire "safe guard. If the ECM detects a minor variation in the resistance in the two potentiometers in the TBW, it will kick into "limp mode". It is their way to give you enough throttle to limp off the road. Turn off the engine and count to 30 and it should reset itself. Eventually, it will do it more and more often. Corrosion on the connectors at the ECM is the likely culprit. It turns out that cars with electronic throttles will do the same thing. It is not a HD issue per se.
