How many tell the wife....

Same here except I'm already retired and enjoying the hell out of it!

Don't have a wife these days and I'm perfectly content.
But back in '84 when I was still married, I came home from work one day and said hey honey, come out here and see what I got. I surprised her with MY brand new Honda V45 Interceptor.
The moments following that unveiling are one of the reasons I'm perfectly content without a wife these days LOL.

I am the wife.
I spend what I want (within reason of course) and he spends what he wants. Since I take care of the bills and accounts, he will discuss it with me if he wants something fairly expensive, but that is to make sure the timing is okay.
I've encouraged him a couple of times to get what he knew he wanted but hadn't gotten; I told him to get the heat guards and we called it his Birthday present, he got it lowered and we called that Christmas etc.
Of course he was with me when I got my SG last weekend, and he knows that there are some things I already have to get (heated grips, brighter headlight etc). But he also knows that I'll get them as the money situation allows. He's just glad I'm no longer spending money on the Suzuki!
