Wow, one guy has an issue and all you guys are gonna not do the upgrade? These hinges have been done by plenty of people with no problems. As long as the holes are enlarged slightly to fit the screws there should be no more issues than the riveted hinges would have.

I did this a year ago and still good....

I personally don't feel the HD installation instructions are as complete and well written as they used to be.
I did the same thing. Worked good. Original rivet holes are too small for the new screws. Did mine couple months ago no problems here.

Did you crack the lid at BOTH hinge locations? Did you drill the holes out to 3/16" because the little "posts" need a little more room. The screws don't really go through the holes if I remember right.

Just one hinge, The rear one. I did drill the post holes.

Not as bad as I thought but still it was a total of $324.33 for lid, seal, latches and decal.

well, put that old lid on ebay, you'll probably be able to recoup some of your cost.
