My friend has a stock RD King. He wants to know if he can add slip ons and leave the stock air filter, without having to install stage one download or Power Commander. All he wants is some better sound, can he just install slip ons without having any problems?
Its a crap shoot, very rarely you find a bike that will run good and it depends on the pipes too, the more free flowing(louder) the more it will lean the bike out, if it is overly lean to begin with its going to be leaner and he will have to add the download, but why would he not just do the air/download/mufflers it will run much better
Put a set of Vance & Hines ovals on my 05 RK and ran a plug check.Definately ran leaner. Then ordered a Ness Big Sucker air cleaner and fuel pack and installed.Took care of lean running condition. Most slip ons are probably going to make you run leaner so you might as well do the air cleaner and fuel management upgrade.
I ran V&H oval slip ons on my 07 RKC for a week without changing the air filter or making any ecm mods. Bike ran fine for me (no popping on decel), and I ride to and from work every day.
