Default 103 power package on a 2011 question

Talking to a salesman the other day about purchasing a 2011 streetglide. He is trying to sell me the power package that includes abs, security, and 103 upgrade. Thought it was a great deal till I read on here it is just a big bore upgrade, no cams or stage II or anything. Talked to the salesman and he is adamant that it comes with 255 cams. Is there any documentation anywhere that I can prove him different. Not worth the extra$$ to me from a 96

No cam. it includes the 103, security and abs. they might install 255's at the dealership but not from the factory.

It's a good price for the package, and you can always put in cams (e.g. TW555 or SE204s). Can you spend the power pack money and get a better 103,....absolutely! Depends on what you want!

The cams are the same as the ones their putting in the 96" engine. If your looking for documentation have him look at the part number for the cams in both the 103 and the 96 in the parts book, their both the same.

Sometimes I get tired of defending the dealers, but for them to have a salesperson on the floor stating that the factory 103 comes with 255 cams is unexcusable. Even though you can get a better bargain than the factory 103, considering it comes with automatic compression releases gives you a big price advantage if you continue with motor work.

I bought the 103 package. I thought it was worth the money to get the 103 with ACRs plus security and ABS.

I also added the siren to mine for about $80.

Take a look at my video if you haven't already.

that's good to know it does come with the compression releases. My 09 with the 103 does have some hard start issues when its hot. I guess the best thing to do would be to close the deal on the bike and have a witness there when he says it comes with 255's, then make him eat the cost of installing the cams cause it was false advertisement.

if this means anything to you- I had a deal lined up on a 2009 Classic w/ 96, ABS/ security/ cruise

before pulling the trigger I was able to go to demo day at local dealer

rode in succession over the same route

Ultra Limited 103
RG Ultra 103
Ultra Classic 96
CVO 110"

for the extra money, the 103 was marginally better than the 96, you can feel the torque, maybe you can get into 6th gear at 60 mph rather than 65 mph.

in the end i went with the used 09 with the 96.
the cruise is great- never had it before use it all the time
the abs brakes are FANTASTIC--- rear braking in gravel, I can do that now! as hard as i want.
the security system offers good piece of mind and I put in 2 of the $6 radio shack sirens like everybody else.

to me, the 103 of itself wasn't enough to justify the extra expense.

better results would be gained with the 96 by changing cams than bore--- and both may be somewhere in the future ( warranty still in effect).

your needs are unique, so make your decision based on that.

and i agree that the sales guy is a putz.
get him to put everything in writing

I was not aware that compression releases were in that package--- we sure? does come with oil cooler, doesn't it? and stock air cleaner and pipes, so you are on your own dime for a stage 1 and tune

btw my CDN Pal has his 2011 Limited stored here for the winter, I've been riding it and I am still ok with my 96"- BTW both our bikes get exactly the same mileage, measured over a couple thousand mile road trips.

Mike
