Default Electraglide to Road Glide "update" finished pics

Started out as a Electra Glide Classic in Feb 04 (great bike) needed a change so in Summer of 06 changed to one of the rare Electra Road Glides (with Fat Boy front fender) I know this is not for everyone - just wanted a change and loved my bike... cost was not bad with me doing ALL the work "except for the paint".... Give me a day and I can change it all back.... Being 5'6" the Road Glide is MUCH easier to handle.

Special thanks to doch4m = Doug

top pic is the day I "unwrapped" the bike at the dealer

Second pic is converted to Road Glide and added the chopped tour pac and Fat Boy front fender
Also added a Custom "Ride in appt" Corbin seat

I never really kept total track = I actually spent more than needed because I got new SE guages..

Inner fairing = $217
Outer fairing = $233
wiring harness =134 + $332 **** Doug choose to cut and make his EG harness work - this is OK if you want to take this job on + he did NOT run any switches on his bike... these two harness plug into the main harness up front and make the swap very easy...
head light = $157
paint = both inner and outer = $300

these are the most cost..
The above cost would be just about equal to sales tax to CA for an even trade for my EG to someones RG = again, not for everyone = I enjoy all that I learned..

here in CA if you had a RG that I wanted and I had a EG that you wanted and we did a trade (value 15K) DMV gets us both for sales tax in the amount of about $1200 = so with that thought... I just did the swap... now you can also sell your batwing and get back some $$, I chose to keep it all just incase I wanted to go back...

NOTE = I bought all the above items from Chicago HD saving 20% off list and at the time there was NO shipping... even now shipping is so cheap it pays to shop there.. I deal ONLY with Sue...

That look's good. IMOP the Black Engine on the Road Glide looks so much better then the silver. Nice job.

I agree - never did understand why the Silver engine and also why on a SE they would use that engine??? You would think if you paid 30 Grand - you would get the Black and chrome engine???

That does look really good! COngrats in a job well done!

My 02 RG had a black motor & I was skeptical about the silver, but.... heck it's what all the S/E CVO bikes have & in theory should run a bit cooler too... So, silver turned out to br OK after all.

For 30k, you could by a new RG and a new crate black 103" or whatever the current motor of the month is and install it.... 30Grand???? [&:]

Philm - misread your post.... I do like the SE bikes and would love to get on - actually I think the MSRP is 32K before all the fees... Ouch...
