I have a 2010 Ultra, and when filling it, the gas splashes and sputters out of the filler neck. It trips the gas nozzle off, and makes it really hard to actually fill it up to full. Filling it full makes a mess on the nicely waxed paint. Does anyone else notice this? Any solutions? Thanks.
Some pumps are just hard to control how fast they dispense the fuel. If traveling you are at the mercy of wherever you stop to gas up but I have my favorites at home.
I've got an '08 six gallon tank-Fill from the Jiffy Stand side of the bike.Just angle the nozzle so it's shooting the gas towards the rear end of the tank then ease up when it's almost full.We travel a lot and it works well almost everywhere
Thanks. I have had lots of bikes, Road Kings to SG's. None of them have been like this. It's just a design problem. One time on American Chopper they built a bike for a company that makes a filler device to eliminate the splashing. Can't remember the name of the product, but it looked like it worked. Would kinda suck if you had to dig it out every time you wanted to put gas in though. Thanks again.
Most gas pumps today have to be pressed against the tank in order to operate correctly. How about a piece of PVC as a short extension (right size to be determined by testing)? I'm going to try it to see how it works. Sometimes it a real pain in the *** to get the tank full.
