Road King Police

I've got one. Mine is an 07, ex Seminole County Sheriff's dept.
DIfferences are fairly minor. Different saddlebags, seat, handlebars, switches. Black nacelle instead of chrome. In 04, they had the same 88 inch motor as the Civilain Road Kings. Don't know for sure about the 04's, but you might also have a heavy duty stator and a heavier clutch spring. Generally, anything that fits on a civilian Road King will fit on a police model.
This green bike is the same bike in my sig pic.

I just picked up an 06 in September for $9500. I love it, the ride is great compared to my old Dyna Street Bob. I am in the process of powder coatong the front end now. I would like to paint it also, not a fan of the green. The ABS is a good option on the bike, but it takes up room in the right saddlebag.

Mine is an 09. The saddle bags open up differnet on the Police Bike. They can be opened while seated on the bike. But this means if you get tour pack your will need to raise it up so that you can still open the saddle bags. You should also have a oil cooler and a heavy duty alternator. Good luck with yours, I am having a blast with mine.

My 2009 FLHP, new, out the door $15,400.00 w/ 103 motor, oil cooler, 50 amp alternator., etc etc.. I just had the dealer install the HD cruise and it works great. New switch covers with the cruise controls and got rid of the old "pursuit" and "siren" switches. However, the ECM had to be modified, but they did the install in 2 hrs. I have also replaced the tall windshield with a HD standard windshield. Removed the seat, bladder, radio shelf and associated parts, put on a new license plate bracket, Mustang solo seat w/backrest, Motherwell "gunslinger" luggage rack, and lowered the back end. Now I have good foot contact with the ground when I stop. I also purchased, on this forum, 16" wire wheels w/wide white wall tires which will also lower the front end. I love it! In my opinion, you can't go wrong with a "cop bike" providing you either purchase it new, or from a department which maintained their bikes and did not abuse them. Even though some of them may have little mileage on the odometer, they may have many hours on the motor and frequently "rode hard and put away wet." However, I know some motor officers who really take care of their work bikes as well as they do their "off duty" bikes. Where I live, the police department usually trades them in every 2 years and they typically have between 11 and 14 thousand miles on them.
