Default Changing Rear Shocks?

I have a 2010 UC and I want to lower and maybe put on a better shock? I could get a 12" Air Shock and get my lowering OR I could get a 12" Progressive 412 and have NO AIR and what people say is the BETTER shock to have? It has 5 camber settings which can be changed when needed but it has better rebound and dampening ? Has anyone made this change ? Is this a better shock to go with?

Street glide shocks are a inch lower and still give you a good ride

hey Tony,

i just put on the 09 street glide shocks last week. I think they say 3/4" lower- and the 09+ version has better valving- if you go this way make sure your get the 09+ version.

They seem alright, but the Cadillac ride has gone away- it is stiffer and you can get a jounce to shoot right up your back.

If I were doing the sturgis run, I would reinstall the stock shocks ( 20 minutes, maybe) and the stock seat and windshield.

I'll leave them on for around town and short runs in State- still playing with the air settings

I bought them from another rider who had gone progressive- I paid about 1/2 of retail---zanotti has the shocks for $220 new

Mike

I changed out the OEM's on my Ultra to the H-D Profile Low. No doubt it now has a firmer ride, no longer the plush ride, especially over bumps of any kind.

I put a set of Street Glide shocks on my 09 Ultra. As soon as I got a Sundowner seat that lowered me a little, I put the stock 13" shocks back on. I couldn't handle the ride and the bottoming out even with a full pressure charge.

I asked Santa for a set of Ricor shocks, but I haven't been a very good boy so I'll probably have to get them myself.

I put 12" Progressive 412's on my 2010 Limited. Now I feel every bump in the road, sometimes very harshly, regardless of what setting I use on the shock. I have used Progressives in the past and was pleased, but cannot reccommend the 412's for a Ultra.

I have a lowering kit on my Ultra. I know some people don't like them (maybe because they are less expensive than new shocks?).
Ride quality is the same as before. I was going to install SG shocks, but then I took a few test rides on SGs. Definitely not the ride quality I want on a touring bike.

I am thinking of going with Progressive 440's on my Ultra. Dealer has put them on several Ultra's and has got good reports on them. I don't need to lower the bike so I will go with the 13" ones.

Bigiron: - Did you go with the heavy duty 412's on your Limited?

I bought the 12" SG shocks brand new (were take-offs) I still will drop the front with the Progressive spring kit and will get that lower seat which ever one I can find? I think with all that I will be in the rioght area for me and believe me I am HOPING !! LOL!! The rougher ride might be an issue as I like the couchy ride but a little rougher is OK just not too bad? I have seen that they have from LA CHOPPERS a rear drop brackets that look great and are easy to install from what I can teel it seems like it may work? If the shocks do not do it on to the BRACKETS?
