Agree. Dealers have always handed me the take offs when I took delivery of the bike. Keep some, sell others here or ebay.

My dealer gives them to you or if you say that you don't want them, they stack them on a shelf. When I need something that might be an available take off part they will check and see if they have one to give me. After they have stored them for awhile they throw them away or put them on the sale table (cheap) at dealer events.

I keep all my take off parts to either return the bike to stock or to resell.

The "take off parts" are still in my garage, where they were taken off.

Always bring my parts home. Mostly I do my own work, though. How I wind up with so much stuff. Engine guards went to friend with need for em.
I suppose some dealers sell the things. I bought a solo seat at the local for $25.00 new. Fits '94 & earlier but fits my '04 real good. Unusual for dealer to give away like previous poster says. Sounds like a good place to do business.

Was in a local dealer a couple of weeks ago and he had a whole pallet of touring slipons for $10 each. Guess he figured that was his cost to handle and get rid of them. Thought that was reasonable if someone wanted a spare for future use. At least he's not filling the dumpster with them.

Local dealer has a store next to the dealership that sells "used parts" for 50% off. Most of the stuff is just what people left behind. It always surprises me how many people leave their take offs behind. I always pick mine up never know when you might need them
