SO...If you change a cam, and your Tranny goes out...its still covered.

Your add ons to the bike will NOT automaticlly void your warrenty, UNLESS what you do is clearly defined in the actual warrenty documentation. In HDs case, towing a trailer will void the warrenty because its clearly stated. Using non-harley Oil...will not void anything unless it can be proven that the oil caused the repair issue.

Yeah, I knew about the Moss act, but the problem is what if the dealer says X damage is caused by the mod? Do I get an attorney? Hire expert mechanic witnesses? Just not worth the fight. Would rather get some kind of guarantee in writing from corporate, not a single dealer. Sounds like I'm better off being happy with the stage 1 until my warranty's out.

That is never going to happen, it is always going to be a dealer decision out of the gate and up to us to try other dealers and/or fight through MOCO.

My dealer when I checked into paying the difference for the SE Comp upgrade said bring it in and they would probably do it BUT "it will void warranty (extended) on other parts in there." I will be having them do it but I laughed about how far "in there" was. Primary, tranny, crank, all??

This is incorrect.

If you change your cam and your transmission goes out, you won't find anyone to cover you. Your transmission is designed to operate at the power levels the stock engine makes. By increasing the output, you've run the transmission outside its design parameters and caused the failure.

You can huff and puff to the dealer about this, and you can threaten to get a lawyer, but you'll lose.

This is partially correct.

Installing a cam will not void the warranty on the stereo any more than towing a trailer will.

I don't give a crap about warranty. I buy what I can afford, do what I want with my machine and take responsibility for the consequences.

And for the umpteenth millionth time, the term VOID is wrong! Void stands for 100% no coverage. You may install something that does cause a problem and your warranty claim will be DENIED. Your entire warranty will not be voided!

Didn't want to open this can O worms, but , the MM act doesn't do much unless you want to spend a boat load of cash on lawyers to defend you....
I had my 03 stolen in June , I found another one in Florida, at Seminole HD, they said they looked it over,(they have done all the service and upgrades) well they sold me a warranty, the bike had 211 cams in it, rode it home to Indianapolis, and maybe 500 after that , and the stock tensioners took out the inner cam bearing, oil pump rear jug, even seized the pins in the rocker plates.
I took it to my dealer, when the oil pressure was only about 20 pounds, and didn't seem right.
They pulled the motor apart, and told me it was junk , the warranty company denied the claim because it had SE heads, and 211 cams in it, the bill was around $7000.00, I called Harley customer service, and told them the deal , and they ended up buying me a STREET LEGAL reman motor, but I had to pay to have it installed, and I still have a warranty, so it all worked out kind of. My dealer went to bat for me with the warranty company, and really jumped on them telling them that the cams or heads didn't have anything to do with the failure, but they wouldn't budge....Harley Extended is not Harley Davidson , they sold the name to a company that sells ,and services warranties.
In short , if you have something bad happen , they will send an adjuster, and the dealer can't do much about it.

I was told that Allstate insures the ESP.
