Thumbs up Polished Rotors, New Street Glide Wheels and Tires

Well I polished off my front rotors last night. Took FOREVER, but they came out looking good finally. 10 hours for the first one, 2 hours for the second. Live and learn I guess.

I got my new wheels and tires installed this AM. No more spokes for me! I really love how it looks now. I may get all crazy and polish my lowers this winter.....

They look real good. Why 10 hrs for the first & only 2 for the second?
Now that they're polished do you think they may oxidize, because that "coating" is gone?

Took me FOREVER to figure out to get all the little grooves sanded down and not make a BIGGER mess in the process. After the first one, I knew what to do.

I think they will be fine, the rotors wear normally and never rust, no matter how deep you cut thru with the pads, so we'll see.

They are polished mirror smooth. Should be ok I'd think. Several other guys had done it in the past they said, and told me I should have used the Green buffing compound, it would have been faster.....Live and Learn!

Not sure what kinda of alloy they are, but its a mix, not pure stainless, they are HARD....Guess that makes sense.

How did you get all the little grooves sanded down (on the 2nd rotor lol)?

Looks great. It defiantly goes quicker when you figure out what your doing. Oh ye, they won't rust. Mine still look like the day I did em 3 years ago.

I've been wanting to do this to mine but don't know where to begin. Does anyone have a link with step-by-step instructions?

Let's hear how it's done. How do you hold them in place while you are polishing? I read somewhere that you start out with very coarse sandpaper and an orbital sander. Then use progressively finer sandpaper until done. ????
