Default Sylvania Silverstar H4ST

Just replaced my bulb....BUT...the one that was stock appears to be identical to the Sylvania Silverstar!? Markings are identical, etc.

Is the stock bulb a Silverstar? (This is on an '05 Ultra).

I bought and put in the silverstar and was not impressed, it was not much if any better than my stock bulb in my 02 classic, waste of 20 bucks to me. They were both 55 watt halogen, so I should have known, after seeing what grabs your eye on the road, Im going with the blue white bulbs, you can see them way better as on coming to other vehicles and they give off a better light for night riding.

I can't say that it is better...seems brighter and has a better pattern though....just wonder if the stock bulb is a Silverstar because of the identical markings?

Stock is NOT a Silverstar....which I find MUCH brighter and whiter than the stock bulb!

I agree bountyhunter.

BTW, your bike photo seems kind of faint. The old one was crisper. Not the bike, the pic.

Cloudy day, had to brighten it up, lose some resolution. Gotta take a few new ones when I get the air-ride on later this week.

I wanted to upgrade to the Silverstar. I got another brand of blue white bulb to replace the spots, but they didn't match and looked like sh*t. The spots have a bulb similar to an 881 27w. Has anyone changed their spots to match the headlamp. I can't find a Silverstar in an 881, but there is an 893 or 896 that is 38w and looks the same. Has anyone tried them.

I have a Hella (now PIAA) 80/100 watt in my 05 Ultra. Have been running the same type bulb for over 15 years.

NO, it doesn't draw excess amps or overload the wiring, and NO it does not overheat, and NO it does not warp the plastic housing!

The brightness is amazing on both low beam and high beam. I have wired my running lamps to stay on with my bright light(unless I turn thrm off). You can really be seen in the daytime! No problem with cars flashing you at night as long as your lights are adjusted correctly, and again you can see the road with the 100 watt high beam on!

The Silver Starr is a marketing thing, 55 watts is 55 watts!

I run the silverstar in my EG, and it is so bright , I can't run my auxilary lights because the yellow light they throw washes the Silverstar bulb out. I took my driving lights off the crash bars and tossed them in the parts box that's how good the SilverStar bulb is.

On High Beam it is fantastic.... great for night riding.

I could have saved the 125 I spent for the driving lights if I had dropped 20 on the SilverStar sooner.
