Thanks for letting me know where you rented the bike. I wouldn't worry about the quick disconnects on the lowers. I haven't used them, but I can't really see where that kit would make it much easier to remove/install them. Mine are a permanent fixture now. I'd rather be warm and dry than cool.

Have a great ride. Oh yeah, no covers allowed inside the Alamo. There's a state cop at the door to make sure of that. Hallowed Ground.

Glad you didn't waste your time coming down here to Corpus Christi, it's no better than Galveston and 200 miles of flat land with no scenery to get here.

I would forget Austin too, traffics worse than Houston.

You need to head straight for Bandera NW of San Antonio, some of the best riding in Texas. The 3 twisted sisters 335, 336, and 337 are right out of the Bandera area.

Ok,

One more question. I'm preparing to check out and thought I better ask... Is there Cel Service in the Hill Country?

With the rental - no tools AT ALL. So I break; I'm screwed.

Just gearing up to get going...

Thanks for all the help. I'll give a followup later.

Update #2 - Made it to Leakey. Rode in from Bandero?? on 337. I bought the three sisters t-shirt already too...

Alamo was good, I enjoyed the history. But I'm glad I wasn't there...

337 was pretty phenomenal, and I'm not completly done yet. I'm heading to 336 tomorrow, 41, then 335 down, and running the backside of 337 tomorrow too. Then south through Hondo, and maybe checkout Shiner [brewery] and Lagrange [ZZ Top].

we'll see...

The next time you are in town, check out steelhorserentals.com. They are locally owned and are open all weekend.
