Chipped paint
I chipped the paint on the front fender[:@] Totally my fault, so what are my options to repair?
Chip appears to have gone all the way to bare metal in the Black Cherry and is about half the size of dime. I am looking for a satisfactory repair (nearly invisible) at a reasonable cost. I'd rather not replace the fender if possible and still have it look OK.
Thnaks for your recommendations.

RE: Chipped paint
Only way to do it right is remove and repaint and hope it does'nt happen again! I installed a HD dentproof composite front fender (Street Stalker) that resists chipping way better than the stock steel unit. Reasonable price, custom style, factory paint, no rivets, and a cool chrome billet mounting kit.

You can buy some touch-up paint at the dealership. First apply a coat of primer in the chipped area. Slowly build up coats of paint until the area is slightly overdone. Then, wet sand with 1000 grit sandpaper. Use polishing compound on the area, then fine-cut polishing compound, and wax. Taking your time is the key.
Or you can take the fender off and take it to a trusted body shop and they can do the repair for you. Likely they will repaint the entire fender and matching the paint is not a problem.
Best of luck........

Sounds like a gremlin bell was hanging from the brake tee under the triple tree. (ask me how I know) You can buy a new fender already painted to match and sell your old one on ebay (again, ask me how I know) If you're paying someone else to repaint the fender you have there may not be much difference in buying a new painted fender.

$335.00???? Are you nut's?
Tape off the small area. Fill &, prime. Go to a PPG dealer and buy the smallest amount of HD paint that you can. Get a local sign shop guy with a airbrush to apply the colour coat and then do a light sand, and then airbrush clear on. Buff when dry. It will be perfect, for only a couple of $20's including the six pack to share with the sign guy.
The HD premixed touch up paint will really show on a spot that big.

how big is the chip? if its a nick, you can use a toothpick to pick up paint from the touchup kit and let the fender pull the drop from the pick. let it dry then duplicate until filled to you satisfaction. then decide if you need to wet sand with a very high number of paper 800 or so with lots of water.
