Default Saddlebag Filler Strip Kits

Can someone explain the differance between the Solid Kit, PN 45898-98, and the Slotted Kit, PN 45896-98. I am looking to install them on my 06 Classic and by their description, I can't tell if one or both would fit. The local dealer isn't any help. Thanks.

Solid kit is for those not using the 2-up detachable hardware.
Slotted kit is for those that do.

I had the non-slotted on my 06 Standard which had no rails around the bags, which you can see in my pics here.I believe the slotted ones will only fit if you have the nostalgic rail (not 2 rails around the bags). The Nostagic rail is the one with the single attach point on the bag crash bar,and fender support.

The slotted inserts are for bikes that have saddle bag guard rails around the bags, the slot go's over there attachment point. Classics and Ultra's

The none slotted are for bikes without a any kind of bag guards. no opening for the attachment point. Road Kings, Street Glides and Road Glides.

The slotted ones won't fit on your bike with the double bag rails.

TR's information is wrong in two respects. The solid saddlebag filler strips are for Electra Glides (two guard rails). They're what I used on my '04 and my buddy used on his '06 EG Classic. Also, a Street Glide can't use saddlebag filler strips because it already has the fascia that wraps around the fender and provides filler strips as part of the fascia. Road Glides can't use filler strips (solid or slotted) because it has the radio antenna on the left side of the fender. I guess TR misunderstood what the OP was asking, and the OP didn't think about the answer very closely or he'd realize the answer was obviously wrong.

Here are the installation instructions for the solid and slotted filler strips to help you understand how they fit:

This is the third thread within the past week on saddlebag filler strips so the above information was posted recently. Dawg included a picture of the solid strips installed on his '08 Anniversary EG.

The p/n for rich sunglo blue, solid saddlebag filler strips is 45898-06BPV

and, YES, these are what you need for your EG.

My good friend bought the same solid strips in fire red pearl for his '06 EG Classic and they've been on his bike for 3+ years; look and fit great.
