Default 06 or 07 SG need help

Found a dealer today about 1/2 hour away that has two 06 SG left. One blue the other black. The blue has a alarm and upgraded wheels with a msrp on it that says $19,005.00
When I asked about what they will let it go for sales guy said he would take off dealer prep and freight. He said that would be about $900.00.Then we could sit down and talk if serious.[is prep and freight included in msrp?]Also asked him about the problems the 07s are having since I really wanted a 07 with the 6spd and larger motor and he never heard anyone that had a problem and were I heard this.I told him about this fourm and gave him the web address. So i guess what Im trying to ask is should I go with the 06 or 07 and what price should I get for the 06???I really dont ride on the highway alot so maybe the extra gear is no big deal and I could always do a 95 kit on it.

Get an '07 and hope for the best....unless you can rip a phenomenal deal on and '06 with a 95" kit! You don't ride on the highway much....do you just ride around the block?

Freight and set up is usually around $500 not included in msrp , If you want the 06 I would try to get at least $3000 of the msrp. Just so you know a 95 in. upgrade is around $3000 and I would not want my new motor taken apart , but that is up to you. If I were you I would go with the 07 because of the new motor package plus resale value. I have a 07 and very happy with it no problems , to me it would be a no brainer 07 , good luck in what ever you decide.

The free 95" stage II kit would be the only reason to consider an 06 imo. The resale price of an 06 definitely went down when th 07 was announced. A 95" kit would go along way to make the bike perform better and increase the value when you decide it is time for a change.

I have an 07 and have no problems, but there is enough information on this board to make believe that some people are having tranny issues with an 07.

I have yet to read about anyone having the tranny fail which is what I would have expected due to the number of complaints that have been posted. I know the dealers are saying that some riders are shifting into the higher gears too soon and that they are lugging the motors and this is the noise they hear. I only know that I have an 07 SG with 3000 miles and have had no problems or noises. The only issue I have is that I think it is way too quiet at highway speeds. Without looking at the tach it is very hard for me to tell if it is in 4th, 5th, or 6th. Yes I do have some hearing loss but the tranny shifts smooth with no grinding. Seems like a lot of the complaints come from riders with taller windshields like on the Ultra's where they can probably hear the tranny and engine better than I can.

In the Phoenix Metro area Stealer prep and Freight and Doc charges total about $1300, that's why they are called STEALERS. Freight charges are set by the MOCO but I'm sure the stealer can drop them to sell last years models.

on an 06, you should get AT LEAST $2K off MSRP and they should waive the prep fees. there is NOTHING wrong with an 06.

if you want to roll the dice on an 07 (regarding tranny noises), thats up to you. personally- id go with the 06, sert/pipes and love it.

i honestly dont know what id do if i dropped ~$20K on a new HD and the trans sounded like it was about to explode

My buddies 06 with the stage 1 kit and Rinhart pipes will walk all over my 07. Talk them down on the price and enjoy.
