I was in the garage door business for ten years and installed 100's of these. If the garage door operator has a push button on the wall this unit will work with it.

Thanks... I'll have to investigate that.

Just did this on my 2011 FLHTK, and plenty more about this in the DIY sticky.

I had a 12v opener so looped the button that opens the door to always on. Took the hi/lo wires witch are right by the connection that plugs into your headlight and wired those to the two terminals (in my opener) that would normally hold the battery.

Velcroed the opener inside my fairing and now when approaching my drive switch to hi beam and the garage door opens.

I use Flash2Pass...$50 from Eastern Performence and installed in less than 10 minutes. Uses the Hi/Lo headlight switch and doesn't leave an opener on the bike exposed nor will it operate without ignition on. Yes I am a little paranoid about leaving my garage exposed to would be thieves.

My garage door opener is so old none of the available universal controls work with it -- I've tried a few. The controllers for it are too big to carry with me.
I'll admit it would be convenient to have the door open as I roll up the driveway, but it's really not that big a deal to get off and open the door. Hasn't inconvenienced me enough to make me spring for a new opener.
The HD unit is a separate unit that you wire to opener. It triggers the opening of the door. Don't need to program it to the code of the door.

Not to hijack the thread, but the wires running to my receiver broke, so I brought it in the house to splice them ... over night the cats obliterated the wire and HD doesn't sell a replacement. Any ideas???

I found a small, key fob size, remote at Lowes. Programed it to my garage door opener. took a small piece of velcro and attached it to the back side of my windshield where the chrome crosspiece is. Its hardly noticeable and works great. Be sure to put it on the left side so you can keep your hand on the throttle when approaching the garage

I have the same setup, even the same switch, and have used it for four years. Every few years I change the 9V battery in the transmitter, but one day I may wire-up a 12V-9V converter and tie it into the bike's electrical system.
