Default More Compensator Confusion

Ok guys, I did the 10k service a couple weeks ago and found slivers of steel that looked to probably be from the starter drive teeth stuck to the drain plug. So I scheduled an appointment with the dealer in Abilene and took it for them to go into it yesterday. They called me after they got it opened up for me to take a look. Everything in it was clean as a new one AND it already had a screamin eagle compensator in it. This bike had 78 miles on it when I bought it new and it hasn't been installed since I bought it unless they put it in before they called me or the dealer who did the 1k service installed it without telling me. The production date on this bike was mid 2008. So is it possible that the Moco put it on at assembly for some reason????? If so where did the slivers come from?????

I guess sliver is a relative term. What I found was about 3/8"long and .030 to .040 thick. When I showed them to the shop foreman he said they definitely needed to take a look inside. But what concerns me more is where did the upgraded compensator come from? It's been my understanding from all the info I've seen here and heard from folks at the dealer that the Moco didn't start putting them in new bikes until mid 2010. Makes me wonder if the dealer I bought it from experienced a problem with it during a demo and replaced before I bought it.

Stock comp was probably damaged and replaced with SE. Slivers may be left over from original.

Your sig line says: "2009 Flame Blue Pearl Ultra Classic,SE stage1 a/c,stock 96 w/103 stage 1 download, 2011 FLHX stock slipons". Does that mean your bike has a 103ci kit installed? If so the SE compensator may have been installed as part of the kit.

+1

I had a quote from the dealer for a 103 kit and it had the SE compensator on the breakdown.

"stock 96 w/103 stage 1 download"

Sounds like not a 103 kit. Did you have a look at the compensator yourself? Just because the dealer said SE installed doesn't mean that it is actually there. I'd pull the cover myself and look.
