Harleypingman is correct. I had this exact same problem and found a couple of threads here of guys with the same problem. The issue is that the instructions dated 06/03/10 have incorrect wire assignments for two of the pins. The updated instructions dated 09/14/10 have the correct assignments. If you have it wired with the 6/3 instructions, you will have the *exact* symptoms you describe (I certainly did). I updated the wiring to follow the 9/14 instructions and it sounded perfect.

I tried to upload both of the HD PDF files here, but they are too large for the forum (weak!).

Here are the correct pinouts (from 09/14/10 instructions):

Insert the tan/red wire terminal into cavity 8.
Insert the violet/gray wire terminal into cavity 19.
Insert the tan/blue wire terminal into cavity 31

Here are the incorrect pinouts (from 06/03/10 instructions):

Insert the tan/red wire terminal into cavity 8.
Insert the tan/blue wire terminal into cavity 19.
Insert the violet/gray wire terminal into cavity 31.

I have a 2011 SG and I will not be hooking up navi or anything just the iPod interface to the radio, will I have 2 extra couplers leftover that won't get hooked up to anything?

Harleypingman & RockerBob are on the money - did the install last fall, vocals right side only - checked the forum, got the revised instructions - made corrections and resolved all issues

I've attached a pic of the 2 leftover connectors....

Thanks again for any help,

Yes you should have two pins left over.

You are absolutely right Rockerbob. After seeing NC Pirate had the same issue, I found the solution on the other IPod Interface thread last night during my install. Great work guys. My interface instructions were up to date (2-2011), but I was going off of the 35 pin instruction sheet and it's dated 6-2010. Again, thanks.

Nice thread, Im subscribing. Question; what is the part number for the IP harness and will it work if I already have the xm harness and module installed?

Nobody has any more input? Inquiring minds want to know.
