Here you see the black solid saddlebag filler strips on my 08 Ultra with rails. It is confusing, but you don't want slotted. You want solid for the ultra with rails.

 

Have any of you fellas tried to install solid saddlebag filler strips on an Electra Glide with the double side rails?

Dawg has, I have, and my buddy have installed them per HD's fitment information in the paper catalog and the pdf instructions. As to why HD has the 91216-97 exclusion, I don't know; especially since the paper catalog says they fit Electra Glides (except FLHX). and, obviously, they've been successfully installed on EG's with the guard rails.

As for the guard rails, if you look at Dawg's picture and the pdf installation instructions, you'll see, hopefully, that the guard rails don't interfere with the installation of the solid filler strips since they fit between the rails and saddlebag, and are attached using the interior flange of the U-shaped filler strips.

Just to help clarify anyone who is confused as to the solid filler strips fitment. I have a pair of saddlebag filler strips part no. 45898-98 chrome solid filler strips which I had on my 2007 ultra. My bike had the stock saddlebag guard rails and these fit fine. They are easy to install and do not interfere with either the saddlebag guards or taking the saddlebags off and on. The fillers sit in front of the rails. The pictures in the Hd catalog are a little misleading. If anyone has any questions pm me. I have these for sale in the touring classifieds here on the forum. I traded mu 2007 for a 2009 ultra , they wont fit the new frame so I am selling them.

 

another confusing thing in the catalog is if they will fit with quick disconnect rear docking hardware? i think it said it will not with a flhr with qd hardware but doesnt specify on other models??????????????
