Default 2008 SE Stage I air install, remove fuel tank?

Is that true that you have to remove the fuel tank to install a SE Stage I air intake on a 2008 or newer bike?

No. Take the rear tank bolt loose. The one under the seat and prop the rear of the tank up about 3-4 inches. Then take an allen wrench (old style L shaped)to the two bolts. It takes a little time and those bolts are tight all the way out. This is much easier than removing the tank.

Was able to just use a 90* standard allen wrench without messing with the tank at all. You won't be able to see the 2 screws very well, so takes a few seconds to get wrench into the screw heads. No biggie.

I put the stage I on my Fat Bob, didn't require any mucking with the tank. If anything, there appears to be more room to work on the touring bikes. Ordered a Ventilator for my Road Glide, will be putting it on this winter.

The Screamin Eagle instructions list that you remove the fuel tank on 08-newer drive by wire models, likely so the dealers can charge additional labor for the install. You do not need to remove the tank, as listed earlier all you need to do is use a 90 degree allen when you remove the bolts for the throttle body support. The entire install should take about 20 minutes.
