2008 SE Stage I air install, remove fuel tank?

The instructions also say to pull the maxi fuse first, is this really necessary?

I just did mine and what worked for me was to lift the rear of the tank a couple inches and then use a socket type allen wrench with a socket cap and a ratcheting wrench. made easy work of it.
