Question With clutch in bike still trying to go.

I just had the 25,000 mile service done on my 09 Road King. I told them that it was still pulling some with the clutch in. After the service, where they suppossedly checked, it is still pulling. It is bad enough that you cannot push the bike backward with it running unless it is in neutral. Is this a common problem, or should I get another shop to look at it?

Get another shop to look at it. Besides being annoying, it is putting undue stresses on components. Your shop either didn't care or couldn't figure out what to do. Either way, you need someone more reliable.

No it's not normal. Sounds to me like they didn't adjust the clutch properly - or you need a new one although that'd be more associated with slip.

All you need to do is adjust the clutch cable lever pull. It is not that hard to do.

What fluid do you have in the primary?

I have adjusted the clutch cable before, but never the clutch. The primary fluid is what ever HD put in it at the 20,000 service. I bought the bike with 24,000 miles on it, but I assume it is the HD recommended fluid.

If you have tried to adjust the cable and that didn't help then you need to have it adjusted inside the primary. I have watched my Indy do that to one of my bikes...it was beyond my technical skills...lol

It's actually inside the primary, you only have to remove the Derby cover, it's a pretty easy adjustment, but you paid them for the service, it's their job to fix. If they can't perform an internal clutch adjustment then they have NO business charging for a service, even an oil change.

Its simple to adjust. It sounds like you need to turn the screw inside the derby clockwise slightly. Do a search here on the forums for clutch adjustment. Trust the instructions and you'll be fine. Better yet, get a service manual for your bike. Its well worth the $60.
