DON'T CHANGE IT! Your motor is fine with a little used oil. Break it in correctly!

I changed mine @ 100, 500 and 1,000 on my last 2 new bikes and then go to a 2,500 schedule.
I think S&S recommends that first change @ 50 miles.
Its not the combustion contaminants or viscosity break down do to shearing, its the metallic contaminants.

heck by 400 miles I had changed mine no less then 3 times. Sure it is a waste of money and resources but I have been doing that on new motors since the 70's. I figure it is my money I can waste it how I want to. Besides I know there is a limited amount of resources and I want to use my fair share lol.

dohadex, not sure what happened to your posts but the "Motor Man" states.....
Q: What's the third most common cause of engine problems ???
A: Not changing the oil soon enough after the engine is first run !!
Change Your Oil Right Away !!
The best thing you can do for your engine is to change your oil and filter after the first 20 miles. Most of the wearing in process happens immediately, creating a lot of metal in the oil. Plus, the amount of leftover machining chips and other crud left behind in the manufacturing process is simply amazing !! You want to flush that stuff out before it gets recycled and embedded in the transmission gears, and oil pump etc...
Why do the manufacturers recommend waiting until 600 miles to
flush out all the loose metal ???
Now I do not agree with that portion (20 miles??) but it is what he references in his how to break in article.
PortDawg, are you going to do it yourself or hand over to the dealer? If dealer then I would save the $$ and wait on the 1K. On the other hand if you want to grab a manual and do the complete 3 hole change yourself it is a great way to get intimate with the scoot during cold winter and sure can't hurt. Just my
