2007 96 Inch Performance?

RE: 2007 96 Inch Performance?
Gotcha! There are so many misconceptions over synthetic vs dyno oil, just throwing in another smelly opinion.
I think you've figured out what's best for you, and that's what matters...if you're happy with the looks, keep it. I have the same problem with my crappy Rineharts. I love the looks, hate the performance, so I keep the Rineharts. I really wish that I had a set of 2 into 1 but I don't like the looks. They would give me the low end torque that I want.
Ride safe,
Mac

I wasn't just making it up.

You drove home my point...the wear and tear happens as the dyno oil breaks down...the synthetics last longer and provide an improved cooling quality, requiring a less frequent oil change - due to engine oil breakdown - now we change it cause it's dirty!
Not the wonder drug that some may think, and there is no advantage to "waiting until it's properly broken in".

Hey Mick,
I think your right. I'm already noticing that the motor seems to pull a little stronger past 3000 and even up over 4000. My transmission also seems to be getting a little quieter. It seems like the more I run the gears out, the more it seems to loosen up. I'll keep y'all posted but I'm liking this bike more and more.

All this really scares me to be honest. My wife and I are thinking serious about buying an 07. I read in the Thunder press about the compensater. It talks of the "CLUNK" one might here, and I here about the six speed trans grinding. Is it safe to buy a 07 you think ?

Be patient , it will come around.
You only get one chance to break in an engine , and tracking its progress is half the fun.
If you leave it stock till its done , you get a better idea what progress it makes and exactly how fast it did it.
I prefer to change the oil every 1000 miles till 5000 and go to the standard schedule (with synthetic) from then on.
The initial metal particles , assembly lint , and such will be gone by then and engine wear will calm down a bunch.
That's just "how I do it" , everyones got their own way , and that's fine.
Good luck , good riding...
Mick

RE: 2007 96 Inch Performance?
A buddy of mine sold his '06 street glide and bought an '07. Now he says there is very little difference between the two. My '06 RKC continued to improve up to almost 3K miles, but still flattens out past 3K RPM. That will change when my bike comes home this weekend. At 3200 miles I decided I was seeing all the juice the 88TC was going to give, sooo off it went for 95 ci jugs, higher compression pistons, heads milled, ported, polished,& flow tested, cc'd combustion chambers, big valves, high performance valve springs, cycle-rama gear driven cams, bored throttle body and ported intake manifold, high flow air intake, super-trapp 2:1, race tuner, and a dyno tune after I get it broken in. I think it is going to be a much more interesting ride. When I first spoke with my dealer about making my bike run, they suggested a K&N air filter, Rinehart True Duals, and a different fuel map download. Sounded good until he said it would also void my warranty. After a few weeks of deliberation I decided if the warranty had to be voided to get this hog to run there was no point in doing it half way.

Yes... my FLHTCUSE2 came with SYN3 in all 3 holes (eng, clutch, tranny)
ORIGINAL: xxxflhrci
Old wives tale. I believe CVO bikes come filled with Syn3. Lots of performance cars, Porsches, Vettes and so on come new with synthetic in them.
ORIGINAL: I was always told to wait to at least 3500 miles.
