I too am looking at the handlebar mounts for the road tech 660/665 Zumo.

Can anyone tell me how the HD mounts (number 29378-09 and 76000022) compare? Have not seen either on a bike and I know the 76000022 is chrome and the 29378-09 is black/poly.

IF you were only buying one, which of the two would you prefer, and why?

If I was buying a unit, I would git the 665.
Go to garmins site and compare the units,
Call them on the phone. They are very helpful and easy to talk to.
Garmin can answer yer questions.

For what I can tell, the difference between 660 and the 665 is that the 665 comes with a XM antena, the ability to get a subscription to XM radio, XM weather, and XM traffic reports all for $200.00 more.

Of course, the ability to get weather, traffic, and radio "where available" does not make me leap at the Zumo 665 or pay $200.00 more, at least right now.

Either way, I shill need input on Harley's mounts, the 7600022 and 29378-09. Wounder if the chrome one is worth the $50.00 more that the 29378-09.

I need to decide on the mounts very soon.

Buy the chrome. I looked at both, installed the chrome on my FLHTK. It swivels in any direction and looks really nice. With a little imagination, I purchased parts from Leader to install my Garmin Nuvi. It will swivel out of the way so I can see easily see my fuel gauge. Not a good pic but all I have. Keep in mind, I have a cradle and another mounting bracket from Leader in the pic. Yours won't sit out quite as far but trust me, you will like it.

Thanks BradyG,

I was leaning toward the chrome one but, only saw the pictures of the mounts in the H-D catalog and not how they look on a bike. Your photo made up my mind.

Ordered 76000022 from my dealer.

I just picked up the 76000022 and will install it when I do my inner fairing and handlebar swap, since I'm changing bars I don't anticipate any issues with viewing the fuel gauge. I have the 660 and we'll see how it all works out.
I know people with non waterproof GPS's and they just keep a ziplock and a rubber band close by when the weather looks threatening, keeps them dry enough until they can stop and put it away.
