That's what everyone keeps saying, but it seems like here in California prices are a bit higher.
What would you all expect to pay for a 2010 red, abs, security, cruise, and detachable hardware? I guess thats what I should be asking. Sorry for not being clearer. I am trying to get an idea, so when I walk in and give them a number I am in the ball park

First off, I wish you guys would stop quoting prices "out the door." Every state has different tax and DMV rates that you have no control over. It just confuses everyone as to what actual price you are paying.
You live in CA, so do I...that means you can count on adding 10% to whatever price you negotiate to cover CA state sales tax and DMV. That being said, your "out the door" price sounds way high.
I bought a new 2010 FLHX last June for $18,500. All that I paid on top of that price was tax and license...no freight, no set up fees, no nothing.
Right now, I'm sure dealers want to dump their 2010 inventory as soon as possible. They have 2011s on the showroom floor that need to be sold. You should be able to get a major discount on a 2010 (at least $2000 off of MSRP), or you're not at the right dealer. Keep searching.
OBTW, I know times are tough, but you should at least try to sell your bike on your own. The dealer will absolutely bend you over on a trade.

I'm assuming you're talking about a new 2010, not a used one, correct?

My last bike was an easy sale, I didn't have to haggle or jump through hoops for it. What is the best way to approach the salesman. Just give him a price and dig my heels in? I am going to go for the trade to see what they will offer me, That is basically my down payment. If it doesn't work out then I have no problem walking out and riding off on my bike.
But if I am hearingyou right- the bike MSRP's for 19479, with the security (370), ABS (845), Cruise (295) = 20989, so offer 18989? Or would you suggest since he said an "out the door" price of 22800, present a price of 20800. thanks for the help.
