I wish you guys that have had good dealer experiences with the service dept. would let us know where those dealers are. Service managers with common sense are hard to come by.

And please let rcpilot 971 know what the out of warranty compensator costs are.

Starved Rock HD in Ottawa Illinois did mine under warranty at a cost of $100.00. Which was the difference in the cost from the standard compensator and the S.E.
Total cost would have been out of warranty for the S.E. Parts $331.00 and Labor $142.50. Total $473.50

Rick, the service manager at Southern Thunder in Southaven, MS replaced mine with a SE under warranty. No charge. The best part is I didn't even buy my bike from them!

Took my 2010 in for the same banging at start up, dealer here in Miami (Petersons South) says that the bolt was loose. Only would retorque it and would not replace it under warranty. Tech came out and said he retorqued it and used locktite. They wonder why I drove to Seminole HD for the purchase which saved me $2500.. Guess what Petersons, I'll buy my 2012 from Seminole HD. I'd bet that he used the same bolt.....

Had mine replaced by dealer under extended warranty, with no hassles and a cost to me of $56.50 tax included. Rides like a new bike now.
