Default Just talked with Jammie at Fuel Moto this week

Wouldn't you know it...The scraps from the shredded compensator took out the blower gears and belt to boot at 65mph. No warning just cruising down the highway and it exploded. I just had been talking with Jammie on Tuesday night concerning compensators... Take Jammie's and my advise...don't wait... upgrade and ride safe. Harley Davidson needs to recall a very poor and weak design with potential deadly wheel lock up possibilities.

Default Recall is right!

You're absolutely right about H-D needing to recall this piece of crap comp sprocket. But they won't because we continue to eat ten miles of their crap to ride the brand we grew up with. We deserve everything we get from them. We buy the bike and spend thousands getting them right. Ain't we something!

And down off the soapbox I go.....

I filed a complaint with the NHTSA. If there are enough complaints, The NHTSA will take action with the MOCO. Ask Toyota! How many of you have spent hard-earned money to fix something that HD should have fixed? How many have filed a complaint with NHTSA?

Just had mine replaced at the 20,000 service. ESP paid for the SE Comp, I paid the $50 deductable, also had a few other items replaced under ESP. Bike starts easy now.

Took my 2010 ultra into my Ft. worth Harley dealership after hearing similar noise and lash in responsiveness from my primary area, I only have 5500 mi. on my bike and is still in warranty, service rep said mechanic disassembled comp and found no issues, said comp is in spec, said they can't change it out because they have to send it back to Harley and with no problem apparrent wouldn't accept it. Also the SE upgrade wouldn't be covered under warranty. I would have to pay full price parts and labor. Though suggested to wait to see how it reacts and is out of warranty to change it . What a joke!!!! Guess I'll wait and change it myself..

Mine started banging and clanging on start-up last Oct....5 months
after warranty ended. Dealer couldn't / wouldn't help me out....
Indy just replaced stock with SE upgrade 2 weeks ago....seems to work as
advertised, no more clang and bang on start-up.
what did they charge you to replace it

Angry compensator sprocket

I have a 2010 Ultra with 5500 mi. I am hearing intermittant noise coming from my primary clicking noise when I pull in the clutch also feel a slight lash when changing gears. I took my bike into my dealership Ft Worth Harley , was told that mechanic found no problem with compensator and that it was in spec, thus nothing could be done under warranty because they have to send the defective part back and it wouldn't be accepted, also the SE comp replacement wouldn't be covered under warranty only OEM. Also the automatic primary chain adjuster was ok.Though suggested that I wait to see how the existing comp does and possibly replace later though it will be out of warranty.. What a joke...
