Compensator replaced under warranty??????
#32
Mine is at the Harley Shop as we speak for the dreaded starter banging noise. They seemed oblivious to this so called "compensator issue". They never heard of anyone having issues with the compensator. They asked me if my battery was good and if I might be letting off the starter button while cranking causing the noise. Of course he turned the motor over several times while I was there and it started right up every time. Mine is out of warranty so I am bracing for the worst$$$$$$$$$$$$

Just had mine replaced under the ESP. Along with the starter, rotor, primary chain & clutch bearing. Had them upgrade to the SE compensator. I was told the bang at startup was normal too. The hard starting when it was hot was the only other symptoms I had. No abnormal noise in the primary. The bill was $1577.00. I usually don't buy extended warranties. But i am glad I had it this time. Cost me $203 out of pocket to upgrade to the SE and the $50 deductible.

" compensator replaced under warranty ?"....I missed out on that one by 5 months.
Mine started banging and clanging on start-up last Oct....5 months
after warranty ended. Dealer couldn't / wouldn't help me out....
Indy just replaced stock with SE upgrade 2 weeks ago....seems to work as
advertised, no more clang and bang on start-up.
