Only the 2011's with factory 103" motors and larger have ACR's.
They are internal, you can't see them.

2011 FLHTK 103 sure sounds lame when starting.
Reminds me of an 80 model Dodge. Whats up with that?
I believe the new 103s have a higher compression ratio than the 110s. That's why they come with ACRs.
Someone even more informed than me can confirm that, I'm sure.

So, only factory 103's have the ACR's. That would explain why my buddys dealer installed 2010 103 sounds normal. Thanks for the info

Guess now that I know about the ACR its just normal. Thinking about it, it does sound like an engine cranking with no compression for just a split second and the it cranks up.
Good thing is shouldn't be anymore grind like I had with my 08

The compression release unloads the cylinder pressure to allow an easier start. The moco saves money and can use starters that provide less torque. I have read that the newer bikes unload the rear cylinder when at idle to help with the overheating and new EPA regs. That's what I believe anyway.

Yes, the 110s only have 9.15:1 CR
