Anyways before I put the header back on I put the other gaskets in that came with my top end to see who the fit and the gasket is same od as header. I guess when I finish putting the rest of the bike back together and if it leaks( I dont think it will) I just take it to someone and have them reinstall the exhuast. Thx for all the help
Another thing that I find happens (sometimes) is that after 50 miles or so, sometimes they need 1/4 turn re-tightening. But after that second time you are good for the duration.

I use stock HD gaskets for the best seal, I tried James and SE ones but they always seemed to leak a bit no matter how tight.

Did you wiggle the head pipes and make sure they are seated correctly?

The mounting tab on the header goes under the tab on the trans bracket, then when you use the spacers on the muffler mount under the saddlebag......the whole thing will be lined up straight.

Stock HD gaskets are the best bet (don't use SE) & ensure they're seated all the way in port(s). Tighten front cyl-top exhaust flange nut ~9-18 in-lb & tighten bottom nut to 100-120 in-lb then torque top nut 100-120 in-lb. Tighten bottom nut of rear cyl flange ~9-18 in-lb & tighten top nut 100-120 in-lb & torque bottom nut to 100-120 in-lb. Inspect & re-torque flange nuts after 50 miles to ensure they're secure & can "double-nut" for added security.

I followed instructions as best as possible, I tighted the muffler to the head pipe first. Then I worked my way from front to back. I tightened the rear bolts to muffler then trans bracket. Then started on the cylinder heads. Its seems like the exhaust flanges are far away. I start to tighten and per the hd manual, but theres a gap. Im using the standard hd exhaust gaskets. The only thing that might be diff is that I ordered the pipes for my year model but my heads are off an 09. Check out the pic of the gap on front. Or should I just keep cranking down on the nuts?
I realize the pipes are already on and all is good, but I had to laugh yesterday when I was cleaning my garage and found my old instructions.

Seems that the headpipes should have been on (but not all the way tight) before you put any of the other parts on. (Would have closed your gap easily).
The part that I was surprise to read was after all was on loosely "tighten from back to front". That sure defied all logic. I don't recall having big problems though.

Anyway, typical me - Day late and a dollar short. LOL
