To Dyno, or not to Dyno?
I have a 2010 SG 96" with D&D Fatcat, SE Air Cleaner and SERT. The dealer loaded a base map onto it for that configuration, but I've read some threads of people who suggest getting the Dyno done to squeeze every ounce of potential out of my setup.
I have noticed more torque over stock after the pipe and AC install, but it was spotty (if that's a good way to describe it). After the download, the torque curve did flatten out and is more even, which I'm happy about, but I'm not thrilled with where it's at overall. At this point in time, I'm not ready to fork over more money for <insert upgrade here>. Is it worth the cost of the Dyno, or should I just leave it as is?

jpalm, you answered your own question, to be happy with your upgrades is to get the most out of them and have a smooth even powerband as a result of a professional tune. i recently had my bike dynoed again after exhaust changes that i made, and though my power output increased by 10% in tq and hp, the even smooth pull from bottom to top was way more impressive to me than the numbers. i bought a tts mastertune and took it to rc cycles in hayward ca. i had a thunderheader on my bike years ago and made more tq and hp than my most recent dyno, but this one is more to my liking and bike is much more rideable. ride safe.

I personally think any dealer re-flashes are a COMPLETE waste of money. I've got a dyno and fuel management system, but if I had to go with one or the other I'd go with a fuel management system and a canned map from someone like Jame at fuelmoto or something like that, because all of the dealer re-flashes are just more EPA compliant **** as far as I'm concerned. They don't richen your AFR to optimum levels.

I totally agree, I had a base map put in at a dealership and had it dyno'ed at it's first service. They only gained 1 hp and 2 tq. I think they didn't spend any time on it as i was told they needed the bike for 8 hrs, then 4 hours and was called 1.5 hours after droppig the bike off. Take your bike to a specialist not a dealer. Just my thoughts.

My point of view.
Not every motor from the factory is the same. Fuel Moto's maps might be good, but they wont work the same on every motor.
I have about $25k into my bike already. $450 for a DYNO is peanuts.
It's not just for power. Fuel economy, and lean running are my main concerns. Why take a chance on your motor.
I only have limited mods, but I'd rather take it to someone who knows what they're doing. Finding that person is the hard part.
Took me over a month to decide on a tuner.
