Question New 2011: CB - Cannot hear when PTT

Brand new 2011 Ultra Classic Limited with CB Radio, of course.

On my previous Ultra, when I depress the Push-To-Talk button, I can hear my voice over the headset (or speakers). That's also how it works for the other members of our group with CB radios (although the folks who I talked to did not have a 2011).

With the 2011, when I use the PTT, I hear nothing, but I am transmitting. Any thoughts on any settings so that I can hear my voice?

I have turned the INT on (and off) and played with the VOX ... none of that helped.

I had an 09 Ultra with CB and now a 09 SG and 2010 RG with CBs.
The only time I can hear my own voice is when I'm screaming into the mike. All three acted the same.

Normal? Not sure.

We have a 2010 that we can hear ourself talking on the CB in. Not sure why you can't hear it? Maybe a volume issue with one of the settings? Maybe the intercom? Not sure....I know we can change a lot of the volumes which effect things in different ways, like when other audio is feeding thru over or in the background....

I would think hearing yourself would be abnormal operation and in need of adjustment. Their should be circuitry similar to your telephone to eliminate your own voice. Echo would be undesirable.

Something like that since you do have a new bike I would talk to the dealership that you purchased it from it's under warranty. The dealership can also contact Harley if it is an issue then they can usually get an answer from Harley. Harley may have went with a different system on the new models so it might be a different set up from your previous year bike.

I guess I can not think of a reason you would want to hear your own voice as long as whoever you are talking to can hear you unless of course you are talking to yourself lol

In aviation, it's referred to as "side tone". Very difficult to talk on the radio without it. On my 08 Ultra, I can hear myself just fine through the helmet audio.
