FLHX wind turbulence

I understand, even if you get a TALLER shield you'll still get buffeting from under the sides.
I have a Long Ride Shield X-treme and it helps a lot!

Also think about getting these deflector kit:

I went with a 9" LRS shield, the "half-dinner plate" looking lower thing (I'm looking for a part number - pretty big help actually) and the adjustable "dragonfly wing" air deflectors on the fairing.
Those three together stopped me from getting a concussion every time I was on the highway.
Seat-wise... If you can deal with the "frying pan" passenger area, the TallBoy seat is fantastic - and long-haul comfy. And just a tiny whisker lower.
But in the end, I found myself turning my SG into an EG. So eventually, I just bought an EGC, put all the parts from the SG on and I'm finally happy.
(EDIT) -- Part number -- 58520-79TC -- Lower Fork Baffle. http://search.harley-davidson.com/?q=58520-79TC

The turbulence is the price you pay for fashion! That short wind shield looks sexy but in this case form rules over fashion! my bike is lowered just like a SG but with my normal standard windshield along with my triple tree deflector I have ZERO turbulence! Looking cool on your glide negates the level of comfort one would expect. The decision is yours. Do you want to look cool or be comfortable?

You will probably need fairing deflectors as well as a fork baffle.
If you want to go it a step further you can punch in street glide wind deflectors in ebay. One guy sells them. They help immensely by the way.
Many on this site have and do use them
You can also look at Hogg Chopps lowers. I've heard that they help quite a bit too.
Don't go with anything less than an 8 inch shield. 9 inch works good for me from LRS.
Good luck..

I put a windvest 6" to replace the 4". The recurve works pretty good, but I still get some turbulance. That's fine with me. I didn't go with the Klockwerks type because I have the T-Bag windshield pouches. It no longer affects my goggles so I can see. A lot of the air is coming from below the fairing. It's still better than my Fatboy on long trips.
