Default Brake fluid service

Getting ready to change my rotors to the DNA polished spoke rotors, have the HD floater teadrop rotors on there now but tehy warped. Bike is two years old, dealer suggested a fluid flush and brake service. Is this really necessary?

It's a good idea while you're upgrading.

Yep, it is necessary. Brake fluid becomes contaminated with dirt and water overtime. Regular flushing will give Your Brake components longer life and increased brake performance.

Not necessary, but pretty cheap & easy, the Dot 4 that is used now will absorb moisture, not sure you have to do it yet on an 09. I thought the advantage to floating rotors was they weren't supposed to warp? Post up with you're experience with the DNA rotors as I've looked at them as an alternative to HD rotors.

Yeah I thought the same about floaters thats why I am going back to solid sheap ones since I have to change every two years anyway, Plus these polished ones look better than teh HD chrome floaters . I will go ahead with teh flush and have the dealer mount the rotors.

Floating rotors do not necessarily warp less. The advantage of a floating rotor is its ability to true itself when used by moving slightly on the buttons to align itself.

Yes exactly what my dealer told me, I never thought about it this way until he told me.

I'm thinking about getting those same rotors this winter while the bike is in hibernation. They match the 28 spoke wheel very nicely. You'll be able to give us a review on them, since you can ride all winter.I'm envious.

Are you saying you change rotors every two years?

I am saying the HD floaters warped at 2 years so I am hoping to get 2 years out of this set. If they last longer fine if not they are cheap so this is fine also, hell I might just change them everuytime I change pads hehe. I put about 20k+ per year on my bike in Miami hot weather and traffic so yeah they get under a lot of stress so I would not doubt two years.
