I'm about 5'9" and have one of those in the 7 1/2" size. Works great, you can hear the radio at speed and in the cooler months, your hands stay warmer.

8 or a 9 inch "classic" from LRS should do you about right..

I'm 5'11" and use Klock Werks 8.5" - works great. Also, if you're look'n to reduce buffeting, go with fairing wings and fork baffle - believe me...all three = comfy ride!

I'm 5'9" using the Freedom Shield curved 7" model while riding on a Mustang 17" solo seat and it works great.

The Freedom Shield is slightly thicker and the edges are nicely finished. Nice quality look.

The wife has a National Cycle Vstream standard on her Street Glide. It does a decent job with wind protection but for me there is too much distortion with the shape of it and I'm not fond of the looks. It's her bike and it works for her.

We also have a 6" curve type, a 7" & 8" LRS xstream. The shape of the xstream seems to make the bike handle better at higher speeds. The wife could not see through them very well so they came off the bike. The 8" was actually from my Ultra but I sold the bike.

I am 5'-11" and use a LRS 8" x-treme windshield that is dark smoke, it works great and I could have gone even taller, it does move the air right over my hair line I love it.... Also if you buy from LRS they will give you Hawg Wings for free, so for around $112 you get the shield and wings with shipping
