Default tbag fairing pouch- scuffing inner fairing

Anyone have a tip to keep the Tbag fairing pouch from scuffing up the inner fairing?
I have it raised up about 3/8" at present.

Gotta be a better way.

I learned about the problem in another thread. So before I had any scuffing to speak of, I used the fuzzy 1/2 of some 1" velcro and used it as a pad between pouch and inner farring. With the 4" windsheild I'm running, raising the pouch was not an option. Much easier to remove the velcro and the glue residue, if needed, than to try and fix, replace or hide scuff marks. The problem seems to be mainly due to the metal grommets on the bottom of the pouches. More than 1 way to skin a cat, but that is what I did. Good luck!

I use a 1/2 wide felt strip between the bag and the fairing.

I used HD part # 59572-05 its the protective tape under the seat on the wifes Softail. I cut it to fit, attched it to the fairing where the bag would hit, and my windshield bag leaves no marks. Bonus..if you take the bag off, you can also easily and safely remove the tape without damaging the inner fairing, even if painted

*note : you may have to cut it into strips, and slightly overlap them to cover the full area needed.

Question
Why don't you attached the felt, tape, velcro or whatever you use to the bag instead of the fairing?

Though neither part is actually stationary, the bag rubbing the farring surface is what causes the skuffing. padding the bag would also cause skuffing, a finer less pronounced skuff, but a skuff none the less. Like the difference between 60 grit sand paper and 00 fine steel wool. I guess I could have used the other 1/2 of the velcro on the bottom of the bag along with the fuzzy 1/2 on the farring and stopped the movement all together. I might give that a try, on the center bag anyway, it seems to wobble when idling. Like I said, more than 1 way to skin a cat, just put what I did out there. Velcro can later be removed, with out affecting the finish of the inner, OEM or painted, if needed.

Nate

BTW I'm running a speaker pod and that area is wider allowing for 1" velcro.

I placed a T-Bag on my sled and did not know about this. I have only put about 300 miles on since the bag install, am I too late or should I go get the fuzzy velcro?

Nope! I had run longer than that when I found out. Didn't see any skuffing, but figured better safe than sorry.

Try this...good for a bunch of things on your bike. Same thing as the harley part for the rear pillion, but since it's sold in sheets and isn't pre-cut with holes/notches for a fender, I find it more useful. I put it behind the windshield bag I attached to my detachable fairing to avoid rubbing as well. http://www.aerostich.com/packing-it-...int-guard.html
