Has anyone ever drilled out a 3/4" rear caliper to fit a 1" axle? It appears there is plenty enough extra material on the boss to ream it out. I am upgrading my 2000 RKC to an '08 swingarm with Sta-Bo 3 bushings but thinking the caliper off my '00 would work if the hole was big enough. Or am I going to have any spacing problems or pad anchor weirdness?

Looking at the parts breakdown side by side on the 44080-02C and the 44016-00D (formerly 44080-00) it looks as though the only difference is the hole for the difference in axle size. Give it a shot. Worse case scenario, it's a $185 mistake.

 

I've seen guys drill them out without any problem, you want to use a drill press so it is perfect

Nope, he means caliper. The rotor isn't an issue

I guess I don't understand. My axel goes through my rotor. My caliper is connected by 2 bolts to the front and rear forks and is well north of the axel. LOL

 

Might wanna pull that right side saddle bag off and take a look at your rear caliper.

 

The later calipers run pretty cheap on ebay (less than $50), might want to just pick one up and put it on.

 

Hum, I service my brakes every 5k or so but did not remember a caliper bracket. I had to go out and look.
