Did you have to do anything special or just remove the bar? I'm wondering if I need any extra parts to do this?

i did yhe same to mine. love the look. i then bought the reduced height bag guards to eliminate the holes and give my GF more leg room. i also removed the rubber from the rear bumper (pushes right out) and cut the lower bar off flush to leave a very small bar across the bottom of the fender.

How ironic, I've got the Road King and put rails on and you have the Ultra and take rails off, we should have traded bikes from the get go!

I wanted to have the rails. When I take mine to work, we have some non-H-D riders that seem to think that they can park into your bags or any damn place they want to even if the motorcycle parking area is wide open. "Some peoples children"

Thats my main reason for wanting the rails to protect the bags.

Your fortunate that you can get away with removing them and have confidence that someone is not going to plow his wheeled suite-case into your stuff and then lean it onto to yours when they dismount!! This crap has happened to several of the H-D riders to my work site. Almost ready to through down on this morron.

Had been thinking about this but wasnt sure exactly what was going to be left on the remaining bar so hadn't tried it. ( I wasn't sure if it would just have the hole left or if the larger ends on the bars would stay on the bars or with the bar thats left.... make sence?) Glad you did it, so I could see what was left to know I wanted to go ahead with it

heres my Ultra now after removing the bars, going to the hardware store, getting some 1" chrome allen head bolts and some chrome acorn nuts to put in the holes. Thought about trying to find some replacement bars without the holes but for now think I will leave it like this just in case I do decide to put the orginal bars back on. What do ya think?

That looks pretty nice, I went a couple places in my small town and didn't come up with anything I liked so a member here sold me his bars off his SG.

My wheels are Weld Revtechs. 18" front and back. I got a 4.5" wide rear rim because a friend of mine will do a 200 rear tire conversion for me if I provide him with an extra rear fender to modify and a swing arm. He does it between the rails so all that hardware still works. He did his 98 roadking and it looks awesome. The funny thing is the harley mechanic told him it couldn't be done when he descibed it to him. So Joe walked him outside and had him take a look. LOL It's not hard to do. I think it will be my winter project.

Just took delivery on my 07 UC and had the rails removed also. The MOCO sells a comfort rail that will take that front rail's place. Will post picks soon, cause my wheels and rotors just came in and I'm getting them installed this weekend. IMO it looks cleaner!!!

I'm diggin' that look man. If my bags didn't both have dings behind the rails I'd be all over the rail-less look too. Might just have to spring for paint this winter.
